Allakh Welfare Association (AWA) is a non-political, non-profit making and non-governmental organization (NGO) established by a group of young and literate activists of a small town of Jarwar in District Ghotki. The organization was registered under the Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies (Registration and Control) Ordinance 1961 (XLVI of 1961) on June 16, 2003. The idea behind the mind of the young leaders establishing this organization/association was the socio-economic condition of the district Ghotki. Located in the northern/upper Sindh, bordering with India and the Punjab, Ghotki is home to many large business and industrials homes and units including Natural Gas Fields, Fertilizer Factories and Power Plants. Secondly irrigated by the Ghotki Feeder Canal, the districts Ghotki is home to the most fertile agricultural lands. It is one the best cotton producing belts in Pakistan. Despite all these natural, mineral, industrial and agricultural resources Ghotki is one known as one of the most backward, disadvantaged , underdeveloped, illiterate and feudally dominated districts of Sindh. Allakh Welfare Association (AWA) was established to help these disadvantaged, poor, illiterate and uneducated people in their fight against poverty, deprivation, illiteracy, human rights violation and exploitation.
